Through all areas of school life, we seek to enhance the well-being of students and staff. The school promotes the development of positive relationships between all staff and students, parents and the wider community through the creation of a positive learning environment and the development of a caring school community.
Our aim to create a school where pupils are valued as individuals and are encouraged to develop to their full potential. We believe that a happy pupil will be a successful pupil and we strive to make this a reality through our Pastoral Care programmes.

The Principal, Vice-Principal and staff oversee the general welfare of all students in the school.
All classes have lessons in Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU) each week. The topics for this programme include:
- Personal Understanding and Health
- Mutual understanding in the local and wider community
Within these broad headings, there are many areas of learning including:
- Emotions
- Looking after yourself - healthy bodies
- Friendships

A counsellor is available to work with pupils and families on a weekly basis. This confidential service is provided to support pupils through their school life and life outside school. Play Therapy is the approach taken by the counsellor with sessions held in a secure and discreet setting. The school works with parents and the counsellor to identify pupils and establish a programme of support going forward.
Our school counsellor is Mrs Ita Deery. She is available every Friday morning from 9am - 12noon.
If any parent wishes to seek the support of counselling services for their child/ren, they should make an appointment with the Principal.
The services of a counsellor are made possible through funding from the Extended Schools programme.
Regular attendance at school is vital for academic progression, success and social development. The school monitors attendance on a monthly basis and takes action in accordance with department of Education circulars once it falls below certain levels.
