Last week Primary 5 looked at the importance of two particular books that can impact upon literacy. The children enjoyed the task of putting their alphabetical knowledge and skills to the test, locating words and their meanings in the dictionary. They established that the dictionary also proves a very useful book to check and correct spellings.
The children also evaluated how useful a Thesaurus can be as it provides lists of words with similar meanings (synonyms). They all agree it's a very useful tool that can help make your writing much more interesting and engaging whilst also increasing your vocabulary.
