WAU - Hunger
P7 have started their new World Around Us topic of 'Hunger'. This topic will run until Easter and it will focus on both famine today and the Irish famine.
For our intro lesson, pupils were provided with images of famine today and famine in the past. Each pupil group had to compile a list of ten questions relating to the causes, course and consequences of famine. These questions will now be used to underpin our learning and form the basis of future lessons. Such questions included "How many people emigrated during the famine?" and "What area was worst hit by the famine?"
We are also completing two novels during this topic. A Twist of Gold (Teacher book for talking, listening and writing) and Under the Hawthorn Tree (Pupil book for reading, comprehension and writing).
An excellent to start to a very interesting and insightful topic.
