The Polytunnel! 🥬🧅🫑🌻
Our polytunnel has been a hive of activity this past few weeks!
Many classes have planted a variety of flowers and vegetables in the pots and beds since early Spring.
Last week, P7 harvested lettuce and some spring onion. After washing our hands and the lettuce, we made some lettuce wraps! All pupils agreed that home-grown (or in this case, school-grown!) tastes the best!
We then planted some pumpkin seeds in place of the lettuce and potted some sunflower seeds.
Some mangetout was picked and pupils moved the French beans from a planter to the raised veg box. Pupils used string and bamboo sticks to secure and support the tomato plants and the French beans.
Well done to all pupils who are helping with the maintenance and running of the polytunnel! (and apologies to those who were unlucky enough to be in the tunnel when the overhead irrigation system was turned on!)
Thank you to Seamus and Quay Garden Structures for their help in setting up the polytunnel!
