Snow Maths!
P7PF braved the cold this morning as they put their maths skills to the test in an outdoor lesson!
We have been extending our knowledge of 3D shape in class and most recently learned how to find the volume of cubes and cuboids.
Pupils created cubes and cuboids using the snow around the top playground. They used rulers to file down the edges and then measured the length, breadth and height to the nearest centimetre. Pupils had to create four of these shapes. When measurements were completed, the class was given some time to create other 3D shapes such as hexagonal prisms, triangular based pyramids and snow spheres (our fancy mathematical name for snowballs!)
When we returned to class, we used both mental multiplication and column multiplication to find the volume of the shapes we created.
Well done P7!
