P7 have been following Ireland's Six Nations Campaign very closely! Each pupil has also been assigned a team to follow.
Our PE lessons have consisted of both rugby and volleyball over the past few weeks. In terms of rugby, the class has been introduced to the different rules and skills of the game.
Skills have included passing, tackling and scoring. In our most recent session, we focused on tackling, diving for the line and pass recovery. Pupils were shown the key points of the tackle and then had a chance to tackle a stationary dummy. Pupils had to be very reactive after the tackle in order to secure the loose ball. After this, we had some fun scoring diving tries. It wasn't all straightforward though as pupils had to be evasive and navigate past some tacklers (space hoppers).
We plan to continue developing our skills over the next few weeks and if weather allows we hope to go outside for some conditioned games and tag rugby.
