For the past few weeks, P5 have been completing work and activities relating to our new World Around Us topic - Our Place in the Universe.
This has been a very enjoyable and informative topic which has developed upon the knowledge of space and our solar system that was built in P3.
This year, a lot of our focus was on the order of planets from the Sun, why we have day and night, why we have different seasons, and the different phases of the Moon.
We completed some interactive activities in class such as the ‘which planet am I?’ game and each child also completed a comprehension booklet which included interesting facts on all the planets.
We made Nebulas in a jar using cotton wool, food colouring, and glitter.
In the ICT suite, we used the Paint 3D app to make our very own space scenes. Children had to use 3D shapes as part of their scene and some excellent creativity was on display!
For PE, we tried to envision what it would feel like in space using slow motion jumping and wall sit games to make our legs feel like jelly!
All children have shown a high level of interest and enthusiasm during these lessons which has helped further their learning.
