P7 - PSNI and Courthouse
As we come to the end of our crime and punishment, P7 paid a visit to Enniskillen PSNI Station and courthouse.
Upon arrival at the station, we were greeted by Constable Sarah who told us about the history of the station and also showed us the interview room and enquiry office. We then checked out some of the vehicles and met Sergeant Leanne. Both Sarah and Leanne answered endless important questions from the pupils.
After this, we completed a crime scene investigation with Davy. Pupils learned all about a variety of forensic techniques and they even completed some fingerprinting! Thanks to the station for the kind donation of forensic suits.
For the second half of the trip, we headed to Enniskillen Courthouse. We were greeted by Natalie, the court's administrator and by Lenny, a former prison officer. We were taken into the chambers and Judge McSorley explained the courts process to the pupils. We were then escorted to the holding cells at the back of the court and locked up! Mr. Foy was then given some riot gear and ordered to evacuate the 'prisoners' from their cells.
To finish the day, Lenny and Natalie gave a presentation on prison life.
All pupils enjoyed this very insightful and interactive trip. There is definitely a few prosecution solicitors in this class!
