Out of this World!
Last Thursday, P6RB and P7PF took a spin up the road to Armagh Planetarium! This trip was part of our NI Science Festival Activities.
Pupils enjoyed a magnificent show in the Planetarium's famous dome. During this, pupils had a front row seat for the launch of the Saturn V rocket. Then, we went on a tour around our solar system, visiting and learning about all the different planets. After this, we were given an insight into just how physically and mentally demanding being a space explorer is.
We then got a chance to visit the exhibition centre. Pupils were able to create black holes on a massive tablet, touch an ancient meteorite and even smell the atmosphere of other planets!
Finally, we had the privilege of being one of the first schools to avail of the Planetarium's VR headsets. Each class went on a worldwide adventure to explore different climates and how they have been affected by climate change. We even encountered a charging polar bear on our travels!
An excellent, interactive trip which helped extend our knowledge of space and climate! 😀
