P5 had been working hard before and after Halloween to complete a piece of recount writing.
First, we designed our own monsters and described them using some excellent adjectives! We also compiled a timetable of the different subjects we thought would be taught in a monster school. Hopefully, ‘burping books’ or ‘eye-poppin English’ aren’t added to the curriculum anytime soon!
Children were also introduced to the different features and language used in a recount such as the past tense and sequence words like next, then, finally...
We created a four paragraph plan for a normal first day at school. After this, we decided to do a similar plan, except this time it would be monster themed!
The class came up with some wonderful ideas and used some super vocabulary!
Finally, we used our plan to help us write our recount into our writing books.
It was a very creative and enjoyable experience for everyone!
