Maths Week
Here are some pictures of what Primary Two got up to on the first day of Maths Week Ireland!
The children continued learning number recognition and formation to 20 from last week. They worked in teams to create 'Human Numbers'. Not only did this activity require mathematical knowledge, it also required team work, collaboration and communication skills.
The children began new learning this week - all about 2D shape. Miss Quigley had put shapes into the special bag. She chose names from the lollypop stick jar (to make it fair) and invited children to close their eyes and put their hands behind their back in order to 'feel' what the shape was. Their peers were allowed to ask questions like 'How many sides does it have', or 'how many corners'. They learned that another name for corners is 'vertices'
The children are excited to see what the rest of 'Maths Week' has in store!
