MAD SCIENTISTS!
The P4s and P5s turned a classroom into a temporary science lab this week! Don't worry if you seen any bright lights or heard any loud bangs, it was just us expanding our scientific knowledge!
We carried out a wide range of experiments. These included:
Static Electricity - this was a hair-raising one! We used balloons to show how creating friction between a balloon and a jumper can be used to create static that will lift the hair off your head!
Pencils through a bag of water - children were shown how polymers can change their shape. We filled a bag with water and managed to stick some pencils through it without bursting the bag!
Walking water rainbow - we used coloured water and paper towels to demonstrate the process of capillary action. This is when a liquid flows upwards, against gravity. The water managed to travel from one cup into the next! You will see pictures of this below.
Creating a circuit - children were given the opportunity to test out our electricity kit! We used crocodile clips and batteries to help power a bulb, a motor, a buzzer, and an LED.
We hope to use our science kits more often when everyone returns to school.
*all children washed their hands prior to using the equipment and the equipment was wiped down in-between each group's turn*
