Junior Doctor Bike
On Friday, both P7 classes took part in junior doctor bike workshops with Ann-Marie from Sustrans.
Pupils learned the ABCD (Air, Brakes, Chain, Direction) approach to taking care of and checking their bikes. They also used a variety of tools such as spanners, foot pumps, screw drivers and allen keys). All pupils showed great initiative and care when taking part in the workshop.
When the workshop was finished, Ann-Marie, Mrs Fitzpatrick and Mr Foy selected children who regularly walk and cycle to school to be on the St Ronan's Active Travel Team. This team will be responsible for helping with the delivery of active travel activities throughout the school year and they will also be on hand to check/fix the bikes of other pupils who bring them to school (Thank you to Sustran who donated a bike maintenance kit!).
We look forward to working with Ann-Marie over the next few weeks as P3/4 (Be Safe, Be Seen) and P7 (Climate Change) will be completing more workshops as we aim for the Sustrans Gold Award.
