Excavation Trip!
P7PF travelled to the far side of Lisnaskea to take part in the excavation of a historic site (a former homestead of the Maguire clan, hundreds of years ago!).The excavation was led by Archaeologists from Queen's University and the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership.
Pupils took part in a 90 minute session which involved examining artefacts and excavating an area of the site!
The children used excellent reasoning skills when deciding how old certain items were and what they were once used for.
The 'dig' was a very enjoyable experience and pupils unearthed a wide range of artefacts including glass, quartz, bones, flint and even some nails!
Enjoy the pictures of our Archaeologists hard at work and the videos of pupils sharing their discoveries with the rest of the group!
