Catch up with P7
It has been another busy few weeks in P7!
A few weeks ago, we made the trip to Enniskillen Museum for a talk on Famine in Fermanagh. He children enjoyed a discussion and thought based start to the workshop, followed by a walking tour of the town, visiting many famine sties and areas of interest.
We learnt many new facts and knowledge regarding the famine in Fermanagh. Most interesting was the fact that the first potato blight was actually sighted at Crom Castle near Newtownbutler. We also learnt that what happened before and after the famine was just as important as what happened during it.
We celebrated World Book Day on March 3rd and thoroughly enjoyed sharing parts of our in game book with our peers. Some dressed up and some children sent in photographs for th challenge that Mrs B set by reading in an unusual place. Some read a book on a dirt bike, beside the water, in a bath, in a wheelbarrow and even on a big tractor.
In preparation for Lent, we celebrated Pancake Tuesday and ate some delicious pancakes with a whole lot of toppings. We also started a Reflection Book in class, where we write daily reflections about a range of different things and include a daily affirmation to help boost our self confidence and self esteem.
We also took a trip to Armagh Planetarium as part of NI Science Week. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3D movie and building rockets. It was amazing to see how far each rocket went!
Finally, this week we are preparing for Confirmation on Friday and we are all looking forward to receiving this special sacrament that is an important part of P7.
