Big Pedal Round-up
As you are aware, the school took part in the Sustrans Big Pedal from 16th-30th April. During this two week period pupils, staff, PTFA and the wider school community put in a massive effort to make active journeys to school.
We had a large number of cyclists availing of our new bike racks and we also had some of our younger pupils arriving on scooters!
If you were driving through Lisnaskea from 8.45-9.00am, then you will have noticed the never-ending wave of hi-vis jackets that was our walking group! The group departed Castle Park every morning during the event with over 100 pupils attending each day!
St Ronan's placed 144th out of 2202 schools in the UK, 6th out of 44 large schools in NI, and 1st in the large school category for the South West (Fermanagh and Tyrone).
A special thanks must go to everyone who supervised the walk, as well as Ann and Colin who helped so many of our children cross the busy roads safely. A thanks also to Swifts Eurospar and Castle Park for their help with the event, and to Ernco for providing us with some colourful signs and flyers.
A final message of thanks and congratulations to all our wonderful children who took part and who still continue to make active journeys to school. They have shown us how successful and enjoyable an event like this can be, so we look forward to organising more active travel events in the future!
