We had the great pleasure of two very special visitors in our class last week. Conor's granny Ann and her classmate, neighbour and good friend Eileen came to talk to the P.5 children in St. Ronan's and from the Moat P.S. about their experiences at school in the old Moate P.S.
We loved listening to their stories and comparing school life then and now! We had so many questions for Ann and Eileen and they were so good at describing their school days to us. They even brought conkers with them and showed us how to play with them. Conor even got to have a conker fight with his granny!!Ann had a beautiful painting of the Moate school to show us all. We enjoyed looking at old registers and photographs of past teachers -some of whom later worked in our own school.
We decided we preferred school now as the cane seemed to be used a lot!! Also the toilet facilities did not seem to be very good!!!
